Ever since I first learnt how to knit (over a year ago now) I’ve always wanted to knit socks like my mum. She was sceptical that I would be able to do it at first… but I did! Cue my first two major knitting projects:
Both these pairs of socks were made using knitting in the round via the magic loop technique (which I love!). I used a very simple sock pattern which you could then modify to the size of your feet. This pattern describes how to knit the heel and toe of the sock and all the bits in between can be adjusted (in size or even in pattern!). I am hoping to play around with this sock pattern to create my own custom design socks 😎👌
Unfortunately I could not locate my original pattern on the internet again, but I highly suggest using this site\pattern as it is remarkably similar: http://www.violetgreen.co.uk/shop/free-sock-knitting-pattern-calculator/
Once you get the hang of knitting the heel and toe you can then begin to customise like I am looking forward to doing 💫
I’ve knitted 3 pairs of socks for me and I’m in the middle of making a paid for hubby. Sock knitting is addictive! Welcome to the club! Winwick Mum has a sock group on Facebook for people who want help with sock knitting things etc. It’s really friendly too!
